Instrument of Mass Distraction Afterwords, 2024
I wanted to revisit the subject and themes of the original Instrument of Mass Distraction, except this time, photographing the vintage Corona Typerwriter on a white background to show more of the inner workings of the machine. The addendum to the original title, ‘Afterwords’ is meant to signify the results of the machine’s use; after words, the world is illuminated, and the mechanics of the instrument are exposed. As a dyptic, these two instruments can be used to create both lightness and darkness.
